Code for Culture Game Jam: Antonius

Antonius is a humoristic point & click adventure that was developed during the Code for Culture Game Jam and later polished as a game for the State Art Gallery in Karlsruhe. The game is based on the original painting “Die Verführung des heiligen Antonius” by Joos van Craesbeeck. The player controls the holy St. Anthony on his quest to convince all the demons to go back into the hell mouth where they came from.

Sounddesign

In this gameplay videos you can see all kinds of fun things that happen in the game, a fish that wants to breathe air so badly, a drunk lady that gets sober when you feed her some soup, a crazy bard sitting on a horse/goose mutant etc….

Just take a look!

Soundtrack

For the soundtrack I used soundfonts from old SNES games to fit the pixel art style. The main theme “Einmal aus Versehen gegähnt” (“Accidentally yawned once” -> referring to the yawn that let all the demons escape from the hell mouth) is remixed as a happier version for when the player finishes the game.

We won 1000€ and the title of “Best Serious Game” for Antonius – as you can see we were very happy about it!
