Trash Monsters (Die Müll AG) is a mobile game about trash. All trash cans have unique quirky monsters living inside of them and teaching you about where to put what.
For this game I collaborated with Eric Beckmann on the soundtrack, composing 19 of the total 25 tracks in the game.
Each monster has their own unique musical theme that all intertwine in the ending of the game, which is a big medley of all the themes.
The musical themes of each monster went into the music of the ending of the game.
Throughout the game you discover the secrets of the planet. You find a treasure map and have to get the code right to enter the volcano. I created multiple versions of the symbol sound. The notes are based off the mixolydian scale, which always had a mysterious, pleasant vibe to me.
After you enter the code correctly the symbols start to distort, they appear randomly and cause acoustic chaos until you open the door and make the symbols vanish forever.
The sub volcano is the only screen in the game where you have to scroll to discover the whole place. As I was composing the music for the scene I wanted to mix real instruments with dreamy synthetic sounds that represent the opposite sides of the cave – one materialistic side where the reactor and mini game is and the other scientific study side.
